Who are we?

Cerberus Nuclear is a technical consultancy dedicated to radiation shielding, criticality safety and nuclear characterisation. The company was founded in 2016, bringing together specialist skills and industry-wide experiences to offer  comprehensive criticality, shielding and characterisation services.

 

Our small, independent, company allows us to be completely flexible in our approach to the benefit of our clients. It allows us to find cost-effective technical solutions with an emphasis on creativity and innovation.

Why Cerberus?

Cerberus was a three headed dog founded in Greek mythology, which aligns with our three core business areas of radiation shielding, criticality safety and nuclear characterisation.  Our logo consists of three superimposed neutron interaction cross sections which are fundamental to these core business areas.

Daniel Cork

Radiation Shielding, Nuclear Characterisation & Radiometrics

Dan has extensive experience in radiation shielding design, classification of areas and dose uptake assessments and has worked for clients across the UK and abroad. Dan provides independent technical advice regarding radiation safety issues as well as peer review support. Dan is highly experienced in the use of radiation transport codes such as ATTILA, MCNP, FISPACT and SCALE and provides training and development in Monte Carlo and deterministic methods. He has practical on-site experience regarding the use of sealed radiation sources as well as the development of prior radiological risk assessments, methodology statements, local rules, implementing controlled areas and management of dose accrual.

Stewart Hay

Criticality Safety & Radiation Shielding

Stewart is a highly experienced criticality and shielding assessor. For over ten years he has worked across the UK nuclear industry with long-term secondments to a number of key clients. This has involved working with other safety disciplines, design engineers, plant management and regulators to achieve fit for purpose designs and processes. Stewart is an experienced user of various computer codes including MCNP, MONK, ATTILA and MCBEND and has produced validation and verification documentation for a number of clients.

Tom is a physics graduate with a PhD in nuclear physics and 15 years experience as a technical specialist in the nuclear industry. He is experienced in criticality safety and radiation shielding as well as characterisation of nuclear environments and radiometrics. Tom is also qualified in project management and an effective communicator of technical information. He has a proven ability in leadership and consistently delivering value for a number of key nuclear organisations both in the UK and further afield.
